Hackney Report written by Even Alin

Desperate to be out in the sun after biblical levels of rain, which we call the British Summer, the good-natured nutters from Hackney GC (and friends) were raring to help the lovely folk at Hackney Play's Pearson Street Adventure playground get their facilities ready for the busy summer holidays.

There was weeding; there was grass cutting; there was even an opportunity to use power tools - which was all very exciting.

After an hour of back-breaking work, haunched over pulling out tufts of grass and weeds, much progress was made, but we look forward to returning next week to do it all over again!

Easter Parade

Islington Report written by Simon Fitzmaurice

The Arc Centre got in contact with Goodgym Islington recently, asking if we could help with promoting their Easter Holiday donation drive for the Packington Gallery Food Bank. Area Activator Simon, Rachel, Nicky and Nahrek heeded the call and assisted with flyering the local area around the community centre (including the housing blocks immediately above the site). The plan is to advertise a series of activities and gifts being offered for children over the Easter Holidays (in about 3 weeks time), while also seeking further donations for their busy food bank service (which GG Islington have been helping with for almost a year now, since the start of lockdown). After 45 minutes, our team had posted almost an entire box of flyers between us. Well done, all!
