To weed or not to weed?

Liverpool Report written by Sophie McClellan

After a short run down from Hope street to Park Lane (I forgot to use starva - sorry!) we were met by Elaine who is working with urbangreenup. The project has a number of sights around Liverpool for experimental planting that is resistant to climate change.

The planting on the sight on park lane is designed to attract pollinators, but has become overgrown with some unwanted plants! After a whistle stop lesson on what is a weed and what isn't, we got to work.

In the end, (despite a couple of hiccups with tearing bags and identifying weeds!) we cleared 25 bags of weeds from the sight and (hopefully) gave the beautiful flowers a little more space to breath. Well done team!

Guess Who’s Back…

Liverpool Report written by Sophie McClellan

We were delighted to welcome two new runners this week. Benny and Jake we hope to see you again soon! As well as Laura for her first run in Liverpool after starting with good gym in Kingston.

After a quick 2.5km up to Everton Park we were met by John from Friends of Everton park and we quickly set to work, ridding the wildflower beds of some cherry trees and poplars that had self seeded there. We made quick work of it, admiring the wildflowers along the way, and soon had cleared the bed we working in, making the Everton park mural visible once again. Well done everyone!

There are plenty more beds to work on, so I'm sure we'll be back soon to tackle them.
