Paint & Ladders: Part 2

Tue 8 Jun
Report written by Sam Lefevre

Sam and Lucy were back for more!

However, when they arrived, Polis informed them that he had the time in the day to do a second coating of paint and actually our services were needed elsewhere.

Polis has big ideas for the Salvation Army Nunhead, to revamp the look, feel and purpose of the space he has. There will be several sessions in the future to help build his vision. 💡

This time what he wanted us to do was to lift and shift items from a first floor room to the room on the ground floor. However, first we needed to create space in the room on the ground floor. We were given instructions and were on our merry way!

There were small and light items to carry and then there were the big, heavy and bulky items to carry in two....even then we used any opportunity to push things on the floor. It was a real upper body workout and had some glimpses of a CrossFit session, but we didn't want to challenge ourselves with running with heavy boxes! 💪😳

There was quite a transformation, but in the end, this is only the start of something bigger! Watch out for more sessions with SA Nunhead!

This is part 2 of 2 as the first coating will be done on Monday 7th of June.

This task is indoors, so please remember to bring a face-covering/mask and hand sanitizer/gel. If you want, please bring disposable gloves.

Paint & Ladders: Part 1

Mon 7 Jun
Report written by Sam Lefevre

What a better way to end a Monday with a relaxing GoodGym task painting the walls of the Salvation Army in Nunhead.

It was an even special day as it was Lucy first GoodGym mission ever! 🎉🙌 She's new in town...like literally moved down last week, but heard about GoodGym from a friend and thought why not try it out. We were expecting Ella, but hopefully she did not get lost. 🏃‍♀️

In the end, it was just Sam and Lucy 👨‍🎨👩‍🎨 with the help of the task owner, Polis, who had already been busy painting the walls in the hall since 17:30. Yet, he was happy to have any help as the walls needed to turn from mustard yellow to a white with a splash of grey 🎨

Sam and Lucy took turns climbing the ladder and painting a section whilst the other "held the ladder" and the paint. The hour and a half whizzed by, but in true project management style Lucy ensured we finished our first coat of paint with time to spare. Enough time to get a 📸 in! 😎😆

There is two spaces for Tuesday's task. Sign up if you have a free evening!
