Assisting with covid vaccination clinic Friday 26th pm

Please arrive 30 minutes early for your COVID test

We will be assisting the social prescribing team with the administrative side of the vaccination clinics.

Areas of work:

  • standing outside welcoming & directing patients to the check in desk (WARM CLOTHES NEEDED)
  • helping the waiting area run smoothly - making sure it's first in, first out for vaccinations and that seats are cleaned once vacated
  • assisting patients from the church hall to the surgery (short distance across a car park - another outside job, warm clothes required)
  • directing patients from the clinic rooms to the post-vaccine waiting area

PPE will be provided if needed. Even the indoor jobs can be a little cold as the doors are open for ventilation so please bring plenty of layers. Tea and coffee is available as well as a supply of biscuits!

All our volunteering will be overseen by social prescribing staff from the You Trust, please report to them if you cannot find your other GoodGym volunteers! (please note Katie will not be present at this clinic)

Day 4 !

On zoom I had Alexis and Barbara and remotely Lucy, Emily, Anne, Gill and Paula.

On zoom there were more personal bests for all of us and then another yoga pose !

Tonight it was a headstand ha ha which again Alexis completely nailed!

4 days down 1 to go !

Church to Back we still have 8!!!!

A lovely start to the afternoon shift as we had a chance to congratulate John on his 50 Good Deeds and admire his awesome badge of honour. Susan and Sarah were assigned to the Church where they took over from our Goodgym buddy India and had a quick chance to say hello to Paul and his daughter Emma. Lucy was on anaphylactic observations in the waiting room. It was a busy shift and the Church waiting room seemed to be constantly full - so every time Sarah was asked how many - her reply was usually "8!" It was Sue's first time on ear temperature, a tricky start as the thermometer broke (but Sarah soon fixed it with a google - turns out it was a mucky sensor, a quick wipe and it was back in business). The door volunteer was warning patients that they were about to be ear "probed", Sue did an awesome job and "probed" earholes all shift. All the while Lucy was doing an ace job in the waiting room, making sure everyone was well. As part of a Worthing GG Challenge she managed to fit in a quick plank - holding it for 1:50!!! Tomorrow she will have to hold for 2 minutes 😮 In keeping with the shift when it was getting close to 8pm we still had 8 in the Church! So a late finish, but well worth it as another 360 people were vaccinated today 🤗

PS: no Pizza but the 5 week old Mint Oreo's are still there and kept us sustained 😉

February bingo consisted of 12 squares to tick off on the list, at any time during the month:

Exercise at sunrise

Double digits… Walk/jog/run 10km+

Interval training - add in some faster parts to your walk/run

Lunch outside

Find a street sign with your name or a name that's special to you

See how far you can walk/run in an hour.

Humpday… Run over a hill (or bridge) on a Wednesday

Run/jog an errand

Take a donation to a food bank / collection point

Strength work, lift some weights or do some squats / lunges

Go off road

Spot some window displays / decorations on your run

I think I managed 10! Katie L and Kat also managed a good number and some great photo montages. Judy visited her namesake house for a snap!

Lucy and Rachel have both been out and about and logging the kms on Strava!

Day 3 and the challenge was definitely gaining momentum with some great improvements coming thick and fast.

Alexis, Paula and I were on the zoom with Duncan, Lucy , Emily, Barbara and Anne all completing theirs remotely.

We had another go at bird in hand ( also known as the ctow)

Great work team ! 3 days down 2 to go!
