Lock, stock and two smoking space hoppers!

Mon 18 Oct
Report written by Liz James

We met outside Papagayo cafe on a rainy Monday evening. A big welcome to Monica, who joined a GG run for the first time. Liz gave a short intro, followed by a quick warm-up and then we were ready to run!

We quickly reached Mora primary school. Our first challenge was the lock! Everyone took their turn to try to unlock the door, until Tabitha succeeded!! Our second task was stock! We took all of the equipment out of the cupboard, sorted it and then put it back very tidily. Our third 'task' was to pose for photographs with the space hoppers. Monica and Liz were very quick to volunteer for that task!

Once the tasks were completed, we started the run back to the cafe for some cool down stretches.

Let's hope we get 'Mora' tasks at the school!

GG Brent - we want Mora to sort!

Mon 18 Oct 18:45 pm
Papagayo Cafe, 97 High Road, London, NW10 2SL
Helping our local community with this important task

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN UP - YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND IF YOU DO NOT SIGN UP HERE

We just love going to school here in GG Brent. This time we are back to Mora Primary to help sort what seems like a cupboard of doom. We've been here before but this time it is their outdoor cupboard! It may require a few goes so let's get down there and see how much we can get done! It's about 3km each way and do bring headtorches if you can!

We be meeting outside Papagayo cafe on the High Street as the Queensbury is still closed. You can still leave bags and coats but the run leaders or Taskforce will help with this to prevent any unnecessary congregation inside!

Let's Flyer Away!

Mon 11 Oct
Report written by Tabitha Skinner

Brent's local the Queensbury was closed (again!) so 9 of us met outside Pappagayo ready for tonight's task .

We welcomed back Becka to her second Brent goodgym aswell as Pippa who had crossed the border from Camden. Three Brent Goodgymers , Samina , Liz and James were given a special pat on the back for making it as on Sunday they had completed the Islington City Run.

After warming up, we ran two km to Brent Mencap where they had a stack of leaflets ready for us . Our mission was to deliver the leaflets with information on Mencap's groups and activites to local households. Sabina knew the surrounding streets well, so split us into two groups and allocated streets to each group.

Sabina, Pete , Liz , Pippa and Tabitha stuck together and expertly delivered the leaflets in no time at all. Samina , Lee, Becka and Clive headed in the opposite direction and ensured those living near B&M had leaflets too . They returned to the meeting point where they were very warmly welcomed by the first group who had been patiently squatting while waiting.

As we had some time to spare Liz led us back on a longer route, with a longer cooldown to ease those aching legs , leaving us all hungry and thirsty and ready to roll into Papagayo .

Great to see such a big group and hope to see you all again soon !!

Stick in the leaves

Mon 4 Oct
Report written by Liz James

This evening we met outside Papagayo cafe for a short warm-up. A warm welcome to C.J, who joined us this evening!

We set off on our run, watching the pavement closely to ensure that we didn't slip on any leaves or trip over any sticks.

There were two tasks awaiting us when we arrived. Our task was to stick stamps and address labels onto brown envelopes. We then turned over leaf, to stamp the return address onto the back of the envelope. Address labels were also stuck onto the smaller envelopes. The white envelopes were then stuck inside the brown envelopes. The team quickly set up a conveyor belt and the task was completed in super fast time.

Meanwhile, James went outside into the yard and began sweeping the leaves. He was joined my C.J and Liz who helped scoop the leaves and sticks into the bin bag.

Finally, we ran back to base for some cool down stretches.

Sand and Deliver

Mon 27 Sep
Report written by Liz James

This evening we meet outside the pub for an intro speech and warm up. A big welcome to Becka and Analiese, who joined GG Brent for the first time!

We had a short run to the task. Our first job was to move the wooden house. Every member of the team was essential to moving the house! It was heavy!

Our second task was to deliver sand from bags into two sand pits. We searched for more buckets, so that we could have all hands on deck!

The team worked together, to finish the task promptly. We had a short run, followed by some cool down stretches to finish the evening.

Also, huge congratulations to Samina who achieved her 100th GG deed today!

The task was a stretch!

Mon 20 Sep
Report written by Liz James

We met outside Papagayo cafe for a warm-up. This was followed by a short run to Mora primary school.

Unfortunately, there had been a little mis-communication, so the task was a little out of our reach this evening.

However, we put our time to good use with some fitness fun. Sabina kindly led a stretching session. This was followed by a longer run back to base, led by Liz.

We finished the session with some Mora stretching.

GG Brent - Back to school

Mon 20 Sep 18:45 pm
Papagayo Cafe, 97 High Road, London, NW10 2SL
Helping this local school with physical task

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN UP - YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND IF YOU DO NOT SIGN UP HERE

It's back to school for GG Brent this week as we head to Mora Primary School to help with a big delivery of sand that needs distributing in the playground. A great physical task for us and a big help for the school. It's a 2 - 3km run this week. On the off chance that the sand is not delivered in time there will be another task for us at the school!

The Queensbury is unfortunately closed again so we'll be using Papagayo Cafe again but please find everyone on outside the cafe. You can still leave valuables but the run leaders or Taskforce will help with this to prevent any unnecessary congregation inside - do be prepared for the weather and the dark by bringing a head torch
