There’s still some much to be done so we’re gonna keep on going till we’re on top of the jobs.
It’s always a good chin wag at these sessions so make sure you come and join us for a catch up 😂
Don’t forget your gloves and headlights if you have them 👊🏻😁
It's been 2 years since we last helped prep for the Erith Christmas tree festival!
It's a unique and fun task which involves prepping the Christmas trees for the festival, a brilliant way to get into the Christmas spirit!
The trees will be held inside the Church and will need to be moved outside, unwrapped, placed in the bases and moved back inside and into position ready for decorating.
See how we got on last time
Bring gardening gloves if you have them as the trees can be prickly.
Early Morning Stag Do
🎵It was a hard mornings work and we were working with some logs🎶.
This mornings task, which followed the Bexley parkrun, was to assist the Friends of Danson Park in creating an environment for the nesting of stag beatles. This involved digging a number of holes and filling with logs and smaller branches. Hopefully the stag beetles will nest underneath this structure before emerging in seven years time. We managed to build five of these structures before the FODP called time and invited us for a coffee at Danson Stables. The FODP were a very friendly bunch and appreciated our efforts and we expect another invite in the future. The article in the recent Bexley Magazine prompted FODP to approach Goodgym for this task, so maybe further opportunities may arise from other community groups who have seen this article. Poppy wants to apologise to Martin for nicking his sandwich.
Christ Church Erith want to have a good tidy of the church grounds in preparation for the Remembrance Sunday service which is the following weekend. There is a war memorial where the congregation and members of the public gather, so grounds need to be looking their best for them.
Bring some gardening gloves if you have them.
Fun task alert. Meeting at Danson Park around 10.00ish (after park run) we’ll be meeting Lyn the office by the toilet block which is located to the left from the main road (the path just before the mansion house). We’ll be helping to build stag beetle hotels and repairing and tidying up the wood fence along the wooded footpath.
Lyn will be there from 10.00 and will be the main point of contact for the task. Hope to see ya there team 👊🏻😃
Gemma has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.
Tonight we had an awesome bunch goodgymers assemble outside Crooklog for our gardens task. Nicky and Tom were waiting for us so it was time to get warmed up and head on down. Nick led the walking group whilst Susan warmed up the runners and got them on their way. Thanks Caz for looking after the back runners.
On arrival at the gardens it was all about the Lavender, it was the best smelling task i've been on for a long time, our mission was to cut these back for another year.
I'd like to give a massive shout out to Julian who joined us from Greenwich this evening, we hope you enjoyed our company and welcome back to Sharine, haven't seen you at GG for a long time 👊🏻😃
After a thorough pruning it was time to get the crew back to Bexley HQ. Well done on another task well done, you guys rock.
