CHANGE OF TASK - Bearpit Painting

NEW TASK -
There has been a change to the advertised task tonight and we are off to the Bearpit to help them paint some planters. It is a really well used public space and it needs some TLC to keep it inviting to all.
We've started the year as we mean to go on, so why stop now? Let's help out as many projects as we can and feel good in the process.
BRING A HEADTORCH! - It'll help see if you missed a spot!
We are not out to break any records so don't be afraid if you are not the best runner. Nobody gets left behind, but your belongings can! You can bring a padlock and leave them in the lockers at Vivo.
See you there.

February Eats

It's time for our first post-run eats of the New Year and this month we're heading to Stable Pizza on the Harbourside
I've booked for 19 so as usual first 19 sign-ups here are guaranteed a place. We'll try and accommodate more if we can.
The booking is for 8:30 so we'll head up straight after our run (but there's time to get changed if you like).
Having checked their website it looks like they have a special deal on that night - "Tuck in Tuesday". For a tenner you get a pizza, side salad and drink.
Of course if you fancy throwing caution to the wind you could go for one of their Cider trays (or tasting boards as they call them - but it ruins my pun). You can't have the tenner deal but sign up with them the week before and it's free with your pizza.
See you all there!

Card Beds - Cutting and Creating

It goes without saying that winter is one of the worst times of year to be living on the street. This Tuesday we are joining up with a new initiative called Card Beds to help to construct beds for the homeless from waste cardboard boxes from a local bike shop.
The task will involve drawing templates, cutting and building the beds. The more people who come, the more beds we can create.
This will be a very short run, around a mile overall, and the task will take place indoors so if you are new to GoodGym and worried about not being fit enough or if you're not a fan of running outside in the cold, this is the group run for you. So come along and join us. We start at Vivo on the Welsh Back at 6:25 and if you bring a padlock you can store any bags or belongings there securely until we get back.
See you at Vivo!

Our last run of the year! Bring a santa hat too! Ho ho ho!

Our last run of 2016 will be short but not short - we've been asked to spread the word about a great film event and fundraiser for refugees that's going to happen on Stokes Croft, so we'll be donning our running hats and gloves and handing out as many as we can in about 30 minutes, before heading back to Vivo to warm up a little. The run to the starting location will be short but then we will be splitting off in to groups to distribute leaflets so there'll still be more running to do. This will be Pru's last run as leader of the Good Gym Bristol posse too (sniff...).
To mark the occasion of Pru's last run leading us we are going for burgers and drinks to toast all the bad puns she has put in over the years. Sign up here so we know how many are coming and can book a large enough table.
Bring padlocks for lockers, head torches for a little light to shine your way, and if you're really keen, a Santa hat!

December Eats

It's a week later than usual but let's all get together and mark Pru's very last run as trainer with post-run burgers and shakes at Three Brothers Burgers.
Pru has been a fantastic trainer and we will all miss her when she steps down this month. She's played a massive part in making GG Bristol successful - making us all feel welcome on our first run and then keeping us laughing - and lunging - on all the ones that have followed.
Hopefully Pru will still join us when she can but let's all mark this last one as trainer by getting together for some food and saying a proper thank you for all her hard work and enthusiasm.
We've provisionally booked Three Brothers for 20 people but there's a chance we might be able to accommodate even more if you can all sign up here as soon as possible
Everyone is welcome - whether you've run with us 1 or 100 times. Maybe you've run with us in the past and can't make it any more but you still want to raise a toast to Pru or it could be you're planning your first run that day. Either way, the more the merrier - just sign up below!

November Eats

Lots of you will already know that we've begun getting together for monthly post-run 'eats' on the first Tuesday. This week's run falls on the 1st so it's come around quick! This is the first time that we've listed it as a 'party' on the website but in an effort to gauge (and limit if necessary) numbers we've decided to invite people to sign up for a first-come-first-served place at the table.
In October we had pizza (and totally swamped the restaurant with quite a few more than we'd booked for), prior to that we had burgers at Three Brothers and this month a few people have suggested pies! So, after Tuesday's run we have an 8:30 table booked at Pieminister for 18 people, just up the road from Vivo on Broad Quay.
Please sign up here if you think you'd like to come along. Everyone is welcome and we'll mention it at the start of the run, letting the group know how many spaces there are remaining.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Autumn action!

Time to make our garden grow - all the hard work we put in over the summer at Emmaus in St Pauls means that we can now spread some compost, sow some seeds and plant some more..er... plants.
It's a really short run, so is good for everyone - come long and bring a head torch as whilst there are street lights, it's good to have your own light source. If we have time after the task we'll do a few more fitness drills or go for a longer run to get back to HQ.
