Co-founder of GoodGym Bristol, don't run as much as I'd like to

Do Tuesday nights get any better than this? What a treat for George's first good deed!
A bit of running and walking, a lot of chatting and much barrowing of manure and weeding - all in glorious sunshine and great company, including pigs, goats and chickens.
Lots of puns about the cost of inflation (of the tyres) and the rising cost of barrowing, and the disappointment that the downhill wheelbarrow sprint wasn't long enough to qualify as a strava segment. The only sadness of a beautiful night where those who weren't running back downhill stayed to help with the final (?) few barrows of manure down to the farm.
It's Tuesday so it's a group run, meeting in (and returning to) Queen Square and leaving there at 6.30 - bring your gloves!
We’re spreading GoodGym loveliness in at Bramble Hill Farm - it’s uphill on the way so lovely downhill on the way back, 5K in total with the task in the middle 🙂
Changing facilities, lockers and loos are available at Workout Harbourside - bring your own padlock or inventive personal prized possession to swap for one of theirs if you want to lock your, er, locker. Otherwise it’s just an er. Make sure you’re back out in Queen Square for 6.20!
Twenty whole GoodGymmers defied the rain forecast and were rewarded with perfect running weather to return to the lovely (if slightly overgrown) Brunswick Cemetery. It was great to welcome Natàlia to her first good deed and marvel that Andy had managed to create a second profile for his second good deed so had to complete the online training twice too! The runners were soon off in an Alice Rose sandwich - Alice Rose Whale at the front and Alice Rose Dalrymple back marking - a very effective method we recommend to other areas.
With the addition of "high quality" hand forks and rakes from Poundland (£1.50 each - inflation has arrived at Poundland), the cemetery was a sea of red fighting greenery as oodles of bindweed, sticky bud, grass and dandelions were transported away from the flower beds and paths into the dumpy sacks which were soon full enough for Dom to take on a core workout jumping on/in them.
Whilst Di from the Friends group chopped back the last of the big ornamental grasses, the spiral path was being cleansed and widened (it turns out were going to be able to double the width of most of the path we've found so far, but not more than that, Tim!
Sara was in her element grabbing huge handfuls of bindweed and sticky bud and chasing roots back through the ground as far as the eye could see.
We didn't really want to leave, except it was our monthly GoodGym Eats arranged this month by Shreena to the new HOBA Kebab, where we found Art with his hand in a glass of ice - he'd skipped GoodGym to go to his unicycle class (no, really) and sprained a finger - that'll teach him.
Another fabulous night of community, progress and a lot of laughs.
Join us for food! On the first Tuesday of most months we have our GoodGym Eats social. It's a great chance to have a proper chat with other GoodGymmers whether you are new or a regular and have some tasty food.
I have currently booked the table for 12 people but if there's more interested I can try and book another small table.
Hoba Kebab is next to the Bristol Hippodrome and does a good range of meat and veggie options (I love the veggie seitan). Here is the menu https://www.hoba.ltd/ You are welcome to join us straight after our group run or meet us there and stay for as long or as little as you like.
(We each pay for what we eat/drink rather than splitting the bill so you can keep it cheap/push the boat out as suits your hunger and bank balance)
It's booked for 20:10 to give us time to get over from Queen Square but if you get there slightly earlier it's booked under my name (Shreena Parmar)
It's Tuesday so it's a group run, meeting in (and returning to) Queen Square and leaving there at 6.30 - It's getting lighter so a head torch is optional but you'll still need your gloves!
We’re pulling out bindweed and finding some more pathway at Brunswick Cemetery, and finding more pathways.
Changing facilities, lockers and loos are available at Workout Harbourside - bring your own padlock or inventive personal prized possession to swap for one of theirs if you want to lock your, er, locker. Otherwise it’s just an er. Make sure you’re back out in Queen Square for 6.20! It's the first Tuesday of the month so we'll be going somewhere for Eats straight afterwards.
A bitter wind was blowing through Queen Square as GoodGym Bristol gathered for their Tuesday night fun.
It was great to see Sophie back after a "short break away", hopefully GoodGymming and parkrunning can become a habit!
We set to on a different (and very straight) path from our normal spiral finding, rediscovering the gravel under years of mulch and weeds. With just one fork and one spade there was competition for deep root digging - brambles, sycamores and dock were expertly extracted whilst everyone else made fantastic progress with the trowels.
A brand new dumpy bag was soon full to brimming, fortunately it was moved to the path before it got too heavy!
Another great evening's progress with the Friends of Brunswick Cemetery and a run back just as it was starting to get dark - here's to lots more light evenings of GoodGymming!
