We’re not lake-lustre
Having collected TWO HANDFULS of GoodGymmers for this mission including Daisy’s debut, there was much scraping and gentle prying at Eastville Park’s lakeside to remove oodles of weeds and NO stones fell into the lake.
The fitness session then really took hold as we tried to get our haul back up to the hut, plus the wheelbarrow with a now pancake flat wheel. Two big bags of weeds were carried up the Big Steps, the wheel barrow was reverse manoeuvred and we celebrated with elderflower cordial and Nathalie’s celebration gluten-free ginger cookies.
And we all want to be extras as Chloe seems to have a good gig going there...

Sunday sweeping up appearances

What could be better on a Sunday than a bit of sweeping, weeding, tidying, chatting and generally being helpful?
Elderflower cordial, that’s what.
Throw in some loos, hand washing facilities, shelter and tea/coffee if it is wet or chilly and you have GG perfection. 🙂
The gate is at What 3 Words fact.turns.reach.

Monday Migraine Mission Madness
Having awoken with a migraine, but with scaffolding being erected at the neighbouring apartment block, mission attendance was the obvious choice.
Despite having cleared the area at the start of July, the front of the school was once again resembling a rain forest (without the Pretty but Poisonous frogs). The four of us set to with loppers and choppers and had soon overfilled the bags we had for weeds, nattering in a socially distanced manner and generally making the world a better place.

Nursery Rhymes and Times

We've been to the nursery school a few times to tidy the allotment, pick up apples and pears, chop back plants and reduce the size of the dens. We're never sure what we'll be doing, but it's always fun!
Come along for the whole mission or whatever time you can spare in your lunch break. If we're not out the front, try the route by the gate at the side of the building here

Chloe is a now a pretty committed GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the fifth time

Chloe is part of a crowd that's making a huge noise. Chloe has been cheered by 25 people - that's a round of applause just on their own. We hope they keep it up.

Beam Me Up Goodgym!
We like to move it move it! However when "it" is a large number of very long very heavy wooden beams it takes Goodgym runner beam teamwork to get them from A to B. Tired by the end, we'll all be sleep(er) ing well tonight. So sad to see the devastation wrought by the fire, but great to hear the fundraising was successful and the playground is recovering. We said goodbye with beaming smiles, sure to be back again soon.

Helping out at St Paul's Adventure Playground

Lots of jobs on offer to keep the playground neat, tidy and well ordered for the kids to enjoy over the school holidays

Scraping by on a Sunday
It was hot so jobs in the shade were the order of the day.
Any tool that looked “a bit scrapy” was grabbed and Team GoodGym set time work on the wall we’d cleared of ivy, to make sure it’s ready for painting.
Huge roots were dug out to try to stop future ivy ingress and refreshing cordial was drunk. Bags of weeds were carried and barrowed to the top compound (Rich preferred carrying the wheelbarrow back). And a new profile pic photo shoot.
Good times!

Sunday Sweep Up

We’ll probably be back on path clearing duties on Sunday, or other fun digging at Eastville Park’s community garden.
There’s handwashing and loo facilities plus the kitchen for hot drink ls if it’s too cold for cordial.
