GoodGym has teamed up with Food Drop to help reduce waste by getting unsold food to those in need!

Through the Food Drop app, runners can collect unsold food from high-street retailers like Pret A Manger and Caffè Nero and drop them off at nearby charities. Details of how to book a slot are provided at the bottom of this report 😊

It is becoming a regular occurrence that Liz and I met up in Spitalfields on a Thursday night to scope out the unsold goods Hummingbird Bakery bakes. Yet, it's not for us... unfortunately, but for charity. However, luckily for us, there was no tempting smells to lure and torture us this time. Yet, upon our arrival we were greeted by the sweet smiles of the shop assistants. They kindly packed two boxes of cupcakes and told us to carefully balance and hold them as the cupcakes had beautifully decorated icing not to be messed with. Liz can tell you all about how icing is the most important part of a cupcake (actually, ask her cousin)!

We registered the pick up on the Food Drop app and it showed us where we had to walk to. We slowly started walking the one mile route from Spitalfields pass Liverpool Street Station and headed west towards Old Street and beyond. During our walking session, Liz and I talked about achieving our GoodGym milestones (me 100 and her 400 recently) and our general thoughts on our GoodGym experiences and suggestions for the future! Yet, we did not get distracted or lost and arrived at our destination: Soapbox Islington, a youth centre for residents of the area to stay, play and learn new skills. They were pleasantly surprised as they haven't received a Food Drop in ages! They all tucked into a few cupcakes as Liz and I said our goodbyes!

Food Drop Series:

I will be booking more Food Drop sessions on Thursday evenings going forward. If that doesn't work for you and you'd still like to help out, you can book into your own Food Drop x GoodGym session as follows:

1️⃣ Download the Food Drop app

2️⃣ Book drops that suit you

3️⃣ List it on the GoodGym website and invite others to join you

4️⃣ Complete your drop using the Food Drop app and get a good deed!
