Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
As the title (kudos to Dharmesh) probably already gave away, the task tonight involved soapy water & windows - St Francis Hospice' shop on the high street got a visit from 5 energetic Goodgymmers armed with the tools of the window washing trade. While discussing the different techniques of getting a large window clean without stripes, we regrettably noticed the vandalism to several of the charity shops window - letters had been scratched into it sadly enough, why would someone do that??
Windows clean & kit packed away, it was time for a run. Continuing the trend of last week, the route was quite random, although in part the reverse of last week. Letting our feet find their way clearly freed up the minds for some varied conversations, from woodland management & bug hotels to how to break in new shoes, charities, GG task force and even a little history lesson - Vicki explained how the borough got its name, there really was a Red Bridge in the not that distant past and it was only just down the road from our base, we have even been crossing its modern replacement on several occasions on group runs!
With Kris backmarking the group we arrived back at base, where the conversations didn't stop during the set of post-run stretches (great balance Vicki!) - Kathryn is very much looking forward to her first coach run soon!
Following on from the on-the-go conversation on charities, Vicki mentioned she will be running the London Landmark HM and raising some funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society - in her own words:
'The reason I chose the Multiple Sclerosis Society is because of my links as a trustee to CoDa Dance Company, who are doing inspiring and innovative work with people with MS and raising awareness through their professional productions. This has given me the motivation to take the leap to do this race and push myself further than I ever have before.'
GG also gets some credit on the motivational front ;-)
Have a look on her JustGiving page - any contribution will be very much appreciated!
Next week Trainer James will be back and there are rumours he has an exiting new task in store for us, maybe already next week or otherwise soon.... so watch this space!
