This bed washed our socks off!

Sevan and Kash retraced their steps from last week's slow walk to get from Ealing to Southall and help Mrs R prepare for the arrival of her husband, Mr A. Mr A was to be discharged from the hospital the next day and needed a hospital bed installed on Monday morning. Sevan and Kash were coming to make space for the medical equipment by removing a single bed from one of the rooms.

The GoodGymers found Mrs R struggling with her handheld hoover in the living room and offered help with that if there was enough time after dealing with the bed. Mrs R immediately recognised Kash, who had been grocery shopping for the Southall-based couple a year ago. Although Kash visited Mrs R and Mr A only twice, the older lady still remembered that Kash used to walk or run from Acton. She was constantly impressed with GoodGym-style dedication and endurance.

Today's task looked nice and easy: moving a bed to another room on the same floor. Was it easy? Absolutely. Was it nice? Not so much for Sevan whose kneecap came to contact with a bannister at a speed that makes you feel the impact. Ouch.

While Sevan was tightening the screws on the bed's headboard, Kash came down to Mrs R on the ground floor to borrow the handheld hoover to tidy up the space where the bed used to stand. Sadly, the vacuum cleaner refused to put any substantial effort into sucking the tiniest pieces of dust. After some troubleshooting, the GoodGymers concluded that there was nothing wrong with the hoover filter or battery. Sevan and Kash decided not to dismantle the tool to investigate why the suction was so weak, and they left that job to a professional.

The GoodGymers reported the poor forecast for hoover's performance to Mrs R, who had an alternative device to keep her living room floor tidy - a carpet washer! Kash was very eager to try that new power tool but she hadn't known that using it would leave the carpet very, very damp. As a result, Kash decided to run back and later walk around Ealing without her socks - those became too wet to wear comfortably in the cold outside.

Knee-knocked Sevan and Sockless Kash asked Mrs R to pass their regards to Mr A and hoped for his speedy recovery. Mrs R expressed her gratitude and wished there were more people like Sevan and Kash around. The GoodGymers assured her that there are.
