Ms Y immediately recognised Sevan despite his facemask - or maybe because of it. He must have been wearing it at another mission for Ms Y last year when, together with Steph, he was helping Ms Y prepare for moving to another place in Northfields.

This time, Sevan met Ms Y at her new home, where, together with Kash, he was going to unpack the lady's belongings that the removal company had crammed haphazardly in various places around the flat. The new place was smaller than Ms Y's former residence, so the need to declutter was stronger than during the previous missions. Nonetheless, the operation was not without challenges. In one of the suitcases, Kash found, alongside plenty of expired medicines, six thermometers.

"Do you need that many? One for the bathroom, one for the bedroom, one for the living room and one for the kitchen. Where would the other two go?"

As a way of compromise, only two thermometers stayed in the flat.

Sevan helped Ms Y organise the kitchen. He separated the useful cutlery from incomplete utensils and grimy single-use chopsticks. He found new home for hectolitres of diet coke and still water. In the living room, he challenged the idea of keeping the chargers belonging to the long-lost devices and the concept of having three hoovers in a one-bedroom flat. Sevan was hoping for Kash's help in convincing Ms Y to let go of insignificant stuff to make space for things that were really important.

"Kash is a minimalist, she does not like having many things and she encourages others to minimise." - Sevan
"Yes, I could be Ealing's Marie Kondo." - Kash
"Oh, she's no longer popular in Japan." - Ms Y.

Maybe that's why Kash could not persuade Ms Y to let go of any of her twenty little pouches. The lady advocated she needed them when she was travelling to Japan. When asked whether she needed ALL the pouches, she confidently said yes.

After nearly two hours, the GoodGymers reorganised part of the kitchen, removed expired pharmaceuticals and travelled with Ms Y to the bins to throw away two bags of rubbish, three bags of recycling and several cardboard boxes. Ms Y was grateful for the time they spent helping her declutter and was hoping for more GoodGym support in the future.
