Mother nature was on top form last night providing us with a beautiful evening to help St. Mary's Church with their community garden!
14 GoodGymers came out including Leandra who joined us for to first time, go and give her a cheer! She'd GoodGymed before on the weekend community missions but we also had Jane come along for her first group run and last but not least, we welcomed Klara who will be the new trainer for Exeter when it launches in the very near future!
After getting a good warm up in (thanks to Klara for leading that!) we headed out on our short run down to St. Mary's Church where we met Angela from the church who was ready with all the tools we needed to get stuck in. We had a few people digging up the big weeds at the front of the church and the rest of the group tackling the nettles and overgrowth in the garden at the rear. Jenni took on the role of waste warrior and went around collecting litter, making the gardens which are used by passers through every day a nicer place to enjoy!
What a difference!
Our group were obviously drawing energy from the lovely evening sun as the amount we got cleared in one night was astonishing, it looked like a different space! Gone were the overgrown areas and suddenly gravestones were uncovered and we left big space for new plants to grow. Great work from everyone last night, a shear delight!
We decided to take a detour through the parks on the way back giving Klara a chance to unleash her fitness session on the group! We had five stations of circuits to work through getting in a whole body workout and a few sprints too! We finished up with a game of squat, squat goose (these games are not just for children!) before jogging back to base and stretching it out.
Great work team!
