Our team of GoodGymers had a heavyweight task to tackle this evening. A large bag of crushed rock awaited us at the top of Bradger's Hill, so the first step was the uphill run from the Town Hall. through High Town and up the Hitchin Road to Stopsley.

We were met at our destination by Matt from the Wildlife Trusts, who led us to the task site, a set of steps on the hillside, expertly repaired by goodgym back in the summer, which now needed laying with gravel to stop them turning into mud puddles.

Barrows loaded with rock, we proceeded carefully down the steep hill to the steps, with the barrows trying to speed away down the hill! Returning the empty barrows for a refill wasn't easy either as the steep hill definitely gave us a good leg workout.

There were some great moments of team effort too as we worked together to heave the loaded barrows up alongside the steps to tip it at the next level up, getting harder with each attempt as we had further to push/drag it!

We got the whole stairway done, plus a small one by the field gate, so visitors to the Bradgers Hill nature reserve should have a less muddy experience!
