Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
24 runners met up at the Folk House for a two-pronged attack of GOOD! The majority headed off to the home of wonderful waste and superb scrap, the Children's Scrapstore, to sort, chop, slice, dice, and generally mess about with scrap to go in to their Children's Play Pods which get delivered to schools (as seen at last weeks run!)
Seven of us stopped off at Turbo Island (it's not an island and there's nothing 'turbo' about it) to hook up with Sarah from Incredible Edible. Our mission was to dig up some spiny looking plants and replace them with a plum tree. And there was a mattock! So that made certain members of GoodGym very happy!
The group set about digging up the old plants and two of us were on wheelbarrow duty to take the unwanted green waste to a compost bin just behind Hamilton House. In the mean time, with the plants gone, a quick litter pick (including credit cards and an unopened can of cider!) was done and a large hole for the plum tree was prepared. Compost was put in the hole to give the slim sapling it's best chance of life, and then a stake was driven in to the ground to hold the tree up.
We were threatened several times by the weather which seemed like it wanted to break the 'it never rains for GoodGym rule' but luckily it held off and once we'd done the deed, we headed off to the Bear Pit (no bears but it is a bit of a pit like area) for some body weight exercises including plyometric box jumps. FUN!
In the meantime, the usual tasks at the Scrapstore were tackled by the remaining runners. The tricky cargo netting, the card board, the random stuff that seems to lurk at every corner to be dug out, split up and sorted. A steady run ably led by Chris, they returned to the Folk House just after the tree planting for a good stretch and, of course, the rain had just started when we finished.
Great work everyone! Don't forget the social on Thursday at Kongs of King Street and the run on Saturday too.

We can enjoy the “sunny” bank holiday and the cemetery will be lovely for everyone
