Obrigado!

Saturday late afternoon saw Rosa, Graham and I back at the ExCeL Centre for some vaccine volunteering. Unlike our usual arrival routine (early for our shift, in order to fit in a lateral flow test and a cup of tea) we were greeted particularly enthusiastically as volunteer numbers were a bit low, vaccinee numbers were a bit high and so there were things for us to do immediately. I sensed that Rosa was disappointed not to get a cup of tea, but we were soon posted out to let volunteers from the earlier shift have a break.

After that, all went well, with the higher numbers coming through keeping us on our toes (I was briefly required to learn Russian in order to answer a re-booking query). Sad news was that our regular Saturday afternoon team leader, Paulo, was soon to head back to Portugal to see his family over the summer, so we’ll miss him and his ruthless efficiency, but very much hope to recruit him (and some of the other local vaccine volunteers) to GoodGym Newham on his return!
