This afternoon I met up with the awesome Lauren for a mission in Newham for Mr C.

Mr C is currently redecorating a spare room after some encroaching damp encroached a little too far. To do this, he needed to remove several old wardrobes and a light armchair from the room. However, as he has back issues, he's unable to do this by himself (tbh, it would be pretty difficult for anyone to do it by themselves, regardless of health!) GoodGym were asked if we could help with this.

After introducing ourselves to Mr C, Lauren and I got cracking.

There were two wardrobes to consider.

The first wardrobe was reasonably heavy (i.e. not on wheels 😬) and comprised several drawers, which we removed before carrying down the stairs (no point in tempting fate). Mr C also got us to tape down any wardrobe doors that were likely to swing open mid-move: He'd been hit in the face by a flapping door previously and experience is apparently a good teacher. Once that was done, it was quick and easy for Lauren and I to get the wardrobe down the stairs and outside (ignoring any paucity of clarity resulting from my arm-wavy directions). First wardrobe done!

The "second" wardrobe was formed of two wardrobes that were joined together by a dressing table between them. It was reasonably light (i.e. on wheels! 😄🎉), but it first needed to be split up into its component parts in order to get it out of the room. Lauren and Mr C mostly did this breaking part while I... Well, I can't exactly remember what I did, but I'm sure it was very important and very necessary 😅 Regardless, the second wardrobe was component-icised, taped up (no flapping doors here), and moved tout suite.

The last item we removed was an armchair. This armchair was so light (& the hallway so wide) that we probably could have made it dance a little jig as it glided down the stairs. We didn't, although I thought about it very hard and had almost decided on which song should accompany the jig before I realised that we were, in fact, finished. Maybe next time 😄👍🏻

Mr C was very happy with our work and was impressed at how quickly we'd moved everything (I think we spent more time chatting with him than moving everything and were still done within an hour). Hopefully he'll be able to get the damp and redecorating sorted out soon!

It was great working with you, Lauren. Hopefully see you on another one soon! 😄
