Having been told Mrs R would take a while to answer the door we were alarmed to find it promptly swung open when we rang the bell. Unfortunately Mrs R had been taken to hospital 2 days earlier and was not at home. However, we set about following her instructions regardless, and she was kept up to date on our progress via conference call. Mrs R has a small and tidy garden, but due to illness the weeds have started to take hold, so our task was to dig them out and make sure we get out the massive, thick, woody roots so they don't return. It was one of those gardening projects where the finished product looks worse than when we started, but for good reason and in hope that having truly hacked at the weeds and created a lot of empty soil in the process, we have left the garden in good shape for future cultivation. Hopefully when Mrs R returns from her hospital stay she can look out on her garden with better peace of mind.
