22 amazing runners ran a total of 6k this evening from Bath leisure centre out to Newbridge at the launch of Goodgym Bath.

A warm welcome to all runners this evening who came along for the start of something beautiful @Goodgym Bath.

It was fantastic to have Ivo and Ian along for our launch run from HQ and the lovely Pru who came along from Goodgym Bristol. We had a special treat in store for the runners this evening in the form of Ben Rushgrove Paralympic athlete ( British sprint runner) silver medallist in Beijing 2008 and bronze for London 2012 not to mention IPC athletic world championships and European championships.

It was a leafy affair this evening as we set out towards Newbridge to tidy and weed a communal garden and driveway for the residents at Newbridge court.

We started steady to warm up and get to know each other on the 3k stretch out to the task and thankfully the rain was kind to us this evening, on arrival we split into 6 groups to tackle the driveway, communal gardens at the front and rear to gather leaves for composting and weed for the residence so they can enjoy the gardens in the winter months.

The teams soon made light work of those weeds and leaves, Ivo and Pascale tackled from the top of the driveway filing those bags with lovely leafs for the compost heap followed by Ian, Ben,John and Sarah with a task force of runners weeding along the way. James had his eye on a gnome (or the Gnome had his eye on James) Linda and team were on a mission at the rear garden to gather up as many leaves as humanly possible.

We soon made light work of this leafy affair and made our way back to the leisure centre via the scenic route which gave Ben a chance to put he runners through their paces with some speed drills in Royal Victoria park, before heading past the Royal crescent for a quick photo shoot and some squats in the Circus just because we can. We arrived back to the leisure centre for a stretch out led by Steph and some refreshment kindly provide by Mark at GLL and a welcome greeting from Ian Gilchrist chairman of the council with another group photoshoot and Ben kindly brought along his medals for us to see, I did offer to do swaps my with my Bristol to Bath marathon medal from the weekend with him but failed in my attempt.

Thank you to everyone for a fantastic run this evening and a reminder to sign up for next weeks run and sign up to visit a lonely older person, you can speak to Steph or Sarah about how to get a new running coach.

Thanks you again everyone you are all truly amazing people see you next week
