5 speedy Goodgymmers (+ Trainer Simon) joined us for the GG Islington Weekly Intervals Session tonight. Every Monday, 7pm at the Emirates Stadium. This time, we repeated last month's virtual kilometre time trial, but adapted the workout to become a sprint conditioning group session.

Trainer Simon was almost a bit late to start the session after laying down markers around the stadium to indicate a full kilometre distance (it's 1 full loop and a quarter btw). Our team warmed up efficiently with a series of dynamic movements to get the blood pumping (butt kicks, high knees, can cans, squat walks, dip lunges etc). We then built on this by performing a series of mixed pace strides to get used to shifting speeds.

We tried to implement the "1pm lean" technique during these strides. Slightly tilting your body into the direction of your run can help to promote effective foot striking and balance, especially when running at speed.

The crew did a great job with the time trial, with all of our runners pushing hard all the way through the workout. Excellent work guys!

Next week's training event will be posted soon- we are intending to perform a paarlauf (pairs running) interval session. See you then!
