Norwich parkrun Event number 453
6th April 2019

This week 488 people ran, jogged and walked the course. The Norwich parkrun team have worked hard to ensure that the parkrun carries on whilst maintanence to the paths are being carried out. Despite the course change coming up past the lily pond (as Rebecca's photo shows) and Norwich Half Marathon tomorrow still plenty of people turned up to either walk or run the 5k.

Rebecca reported it was rather chilly, featured a Dinosaur (who had restricted vision whilst running!!) and the furthest parkrun tourist was from Bournemouth!

This morning 49 were first timers and 67 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 29 different clubs took part including Goodgym. I see that Jennifer and Brad were there representing Goodgym (Sorry if I missed anyone else!!) The event was made possible by 27 volunteers of which 2 were Goodgymmers! Thank you Rebecca DALE and Rosie TARLETON

Love parkrun? Give some love back by volunteering!

Volunteer on a Saturday morning during the month of March, at Norwich parkrun (Eaton Park).

Meet at the bandstand at 8:30am with the run director and the other high-viz heroes.

You will have a full briefing of the mornings events and how to best support everyone participating at parkrun.

Tasks are varied and include: marshalling, scanning, giving out & sorting finish tokens, tail - walker and many more. All of the tasks are explained in full, easy to do and the tasks are a fun insight into how parkrun runs! The volunteering role usually finishes around 10-10:30am.

Volunteering is great for example if you become injured, are just getting into running, or even have a race on the following Sunday!

If you want to give back to the parkrun community & gain new experiences then parkrun volunteering is for you.

You will receive a point on your parkrun profile & if you volunteer 25 times you will gain a free purple 25 volunteer t-shirt!

If you would like to volunteer at Norwich parkrun and in turn receive a Goodgym good deed you will need to email:

norwichhelpers@parkrun.com to let them know you are able to volunteer.

Also let them know in your e-mail that you are part of Norwich Goodgym!

Because we work with vulnerable adults and our runners participate at their own risk, participants need to be over 18.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

Hayley - Norwich parkrun Volunteer Organiser Run 10 : Volunteer 1, Let's keep parkrun going
