While one team applied oil based paints to cupboard doors, and gave a lick of emulsion to a church foyer, another were allowed free playtime in the park.

From Mark: The painting team ran 5.2k south at an average pace of 6:15 min/km (though this included some long and boring traffic lights next to a perfectly good underpass). We passed some beautiful sites and picked our way through tiny back streets and arrived at St Nick's. Sam from the council had everything ready to go, so we grabbed a brush or roller each and cracked straight on with giving the walls of the lobby their final coat of paint. We spent 34 minutes to cover the lobby including architraves and edges. We washed the emulsion from our hands and talked about how nice it would be to wash the oil from our hands then set back off for the run back. The route took us back through estates and back alleys and out into Mile End park for a delightful canal run back to the Arch. We stretched off and Anthony handed round some excellent chemicals for cleaning our hands of the oils.

And from Alison Harvie: A short and sweet run report – as it was sadly more run than task last night for the 7k crew. We set a good pace down to our designated task, and though we could see (not to mention smell) our compost of a task in the yard of the Cre8 space, sadly a miscommunication meant that there was no one there to tell us what to do with it. Or more importantly – any spades or forks to tackle it with.

So we had to turn our backs on the task/odour and ran back up and in to Victoria Park which thankfully is open later longer now that the weather is finally on our side again. There we basically turned in to a pack of feral teenage girls – playing British Bulldog, a new game called Ninja (see photo), racing down the slides, climbing across the rope bridge and of course – harassing the skateboarders on their ramps. However, with the light fading and the teenage skateboarders remaining immune to our charms, we left the delights of Vicky Park and set off down the canal and back to base.
