Just an old sweet thought

Kept Glyndon on my mind (Glyndon on my mind)

... mainly because I was thinking of a nice route for tonight's group run where we wouldn't get lost. But I needn't worry, as the savvy runners of GoodGym Greenwich know their way around!

We met at our new Woolwich starting point by the Equitable just as the evening light was starting to fade. Even though this wasn't officially a group run, we decided to stick to tradition, with each of us stating what our signature bake is. There was plenty of choice, from classic Victoria sponge to quiches and bread, and even chocolate mousse (arguably not a bake!).

After a quick warm up that is quickly becoming Woolwich's locals new favourite show, we made our way to Glyndon Community Centre. We were greeted by Dave, who had already started to tackle the main task for tonight: cut back a massive lavender bush. Pieter and Sarah joined in with shears, while Olivia swept and bagged leaves and cuts. Meanwhile, Julian got busy cleaning the centre's windows and door, while I swept leaves and did some weeding for good measure.

After a good half hour, the lavender bush was looking much neater and its scent filled the air. Our sweeping and cutting efforts had produced 5 full bags, which we took to the bins round the back. At this point, Dave opened the doors to the back garden, revealing a huge beautiful space, complete with tables and benches, which Dave was kind enough to say we could use for a Summer social! We immediately started discussing the best way to bring a barbecue to the site, so we will definitely be making the most of this space in the coming Summer months!

A quick run back to our starting point and a couple of stretches later and we were ready to call it a night. Well done to everyone who came along! Next week, we will be back in the Naval College and don't forget our monthly social afterwards, it'll be a good 'un!
