From Allot-A-Mint to Patio Garden

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.

GoodGym runners were booked in to clear Mrs Y’s garden, which had become overgrown with plants and weeds since the last GoodGym visit. The plants were escaping from the flower beds and taking over the patio, while the vine was making a break for the neighbour’s garden. Everything had to go. Only the rose was to stay – a gift from Mrs Y’s grandson which had travelled home with her one summer from Greece.

The weeds were unusually obliging and were cleared quickly. The harder, yet wonderfully fragrant task was clearing great swathes of mint that had made itself quite at home between the paving slabs.

Patio cleared, Anja set about bagging up, while Anne took on the final challenge of weeding the back flowerbed and removing all the moss that had taken hold under the vine.

With regular visits from Mrs Y to check that we had everything we needed and for chats about holidays and gardening, the task passed quickly and the runners were soon on their way with much thanks from Mrs Y and the wonderful smell of mint in the air.
