6 amazing runners ran 4km to water the plants and pick out weeds at Walpole Park!

It was such a lovely evening for a run! It is nice to finally have some good weather again and be able to wear my GoodGym T shirt without anything on underneath or a jacket on over the top!

We welcomed a new face to the group last night, the lovely Mike who had been recommended by his friend Jade who came last week! Great to meet you Mike! We were also joined by Rachel and Sylwia who were back for their second run. And then also our lovely regulars Jenni and Steph!

We did a little warm up on the cobbles down the alley and then made our way to the park. We did a little loop around, took a group photo and then headed for the Rickyard Building where all the tools are kept!

Feeling HOT HOT HOT

It was pretty warm but these guys did not care! Vanessa, the park manager, had left us out some watering cans, buckets and some weeding tools so everyone got straight to work!

Sylwia and Rachel were on watering duties leaving Steph, Jenni & Mike to do the weeding. I had some very precise instructions on what to weed and where, it almost felt like finding some hidden treasure. "Go left along the perimeter, keeping the playground on your right, you will see a fallen tree..."

There were two main weeding areas, some chickweed (whatever that is) by the fallen tree and then some dandelion plants a little bit further on. After about half an hour, the weeds had GONE! Steph, Jenni & Mike emerged victorious, each carrying a bucket full of their hard work... NICE ONE!

Perfect timing too as Sylwia and Rachel had just finished watering the plants! We put everything away and headed in search of a patch of sunshine to do the fitness session.

CORE BLIMEY

As I've mentioned many times before, having a strong core is extremely important if you want to improve your running form and efficiency which ultimately means you will be able to run faster for longer! And we ALL want that right?! We did a little core circuit, working all the muscles around the stomach and lower back - guys and girls you can do this in your own time too! They are so quick and easy to do and I know it's easier said that done but even if its just a few minutes a day, it will make SUCH a difference!

After 10 minutes or so of lazing in the sunshine because it was just so chill according to Steph, we had a nice little jog back to the gym and finished with some stretches!

**Thanks for coming last night everyone! Hope you had a lovely evening. Good luck to those racing at the weekend, can't wait to hear all about it! See you next week!
