Mission

Every little helps

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.

My first ever successful Mission was to help get groceries for a self-isolating lady. After a short call to introduce myself and arrange logistics, I met her on her doorstep to get the shopping list.

The queue at the nearby Tesco was really long (and socially distanced) but at least it was sunny and I passed the time looking at all the cute NHS posters on the window. Once inside, I got down to the task and soon realised unusual it was food shopping for someone else (I found myself gravitated to things I normally buy). But I stuck to the list and bar one thing being out of stock, got everything she required.

On dropping off the groceries, we had a brief chat on her doorstep and she was really pleased and particularly impressed I managed to get the pasta and frozen spinach.

It felt particularly good to be able to help during this crazy time, and it made me realise how much of I'd enjoyed and missed doing good deeds. They really help perk up your day enormously.

Now that I've got the first one done, I'm keen to keep it going and help more vulnerable people in our community.
