20 wonderful runners met up at Roll for the Soul for a hot and flat run to help clear up part of the banks of the river Avon which flows through the Avon Gorge.

It was fabulous to see a load of London runners join us; it was a great opportunity to show them the sights, sounds, smells and squishyness of Bristol.

We left Roll for the Soul and ran along a busy harbourside area - the sun had brought a lot of people out to sit and enjoy it, so we had to take care. We met up with Dave and Lisa who'd just been to parkrun (and had cake!) just over half way there, and were also joined by Nick on his bike (due to an injury!).

We met up with Mark, our Surfers Against Sewage contact, just underneath one of Bristol's most prized landmarks - the Clifton Suspension Bridge. I'd given a health and safety warning about the gloopiness of the mud, but Mark reiterated it along with a story about another litter picker who lost his boots in the mud! Eek! We grabbed gloves and bin bags, then headed down on to the reed beds.

As always, we found a selection of interesting items. Today's selection included:
2 rubber ducks
A small Snow White toy
A men at work sign
A wooden oar from a canoe or other small boaty type thing
Some intriguing bones!

Of course there were a few people who got a little bit muddy - but then it wouldn't be a GoodGym run without getting dirty somehow.

After climbing back up to the Portway, we admired our haul, took some photos including a jumping photo (!) then continued our running tour of Bristol to take in the rest of the Harbourside including lovely views of Clifton Wood's colourful houses, the SS Great Britain, a steam train and a working shipyard. It was such a wonderful day for a run, if a little hot, so quite a few people stopped at the end for a meal and a drink at Roll for the Soul.

Thanks so much for coming, everyone!!!
