Race

A pyramid scheme that works! (sort of)

This was the fourth and final race in the Bath Two Tunnels suite of races that I undertook this year. Having previously done the 10k races (2 x flat; 1 x hilly), I decided to enter into the 5k alongside my 16-year old son, Matt. We were also joined on the day by my husband Martin. Of course, we didn't actually run 'alongside' each other, as they were a good 5 minutes quicker than I was! But we had a fun day together, and that's what counts.

It was also great to meet a few other GoodGym runners from as far away as Chelmsford! It's a really good feeling when you spot a fellow runner in their GoodGym t-shirt or vest, knowing you have a special link with them not just because of running, but because of our shared reason for doing it. And it's always a lift to hear "Go GoodGym!" out of the blue when you're running along in your own little world!

Once I crossed the finish line and picked up my medal (plus loads of sweets, fruit and jaffa cakes - they have the best snacks there!), I also got the chance to build the interlocking medal set, from across the series of race days. Laid down side by side, the 4 medals do indeed create an image of the railway, which of course is what the Two Tunnels is all about. The pyramid doesn't quite work, as some of the magnetics are the wrong way around, and they don't 'click' together in the right sequence to still show the picture. (as you can see in the photo below, one of the sides shows a train appearing to fall off a cliff!) So unless someone can re-polarise magnets, it'll have to stay wonkey as it is! A funny reminder of a fun set of days with other GoodGym runners as well as my family.
