3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.

A bitterly cold night in Peckham was the stage for a particularly special occasion, MRIDULA's 100th GOOD DEED. Gosia and I, after an epic/hideous commute from an earlier mission, had the honour of sharing the evening with our new Centurion, who had been patiently waiting for us in a nearby pub (drinking tea!). My first every GoodGym Mission was in the esteemed company of Mridula so I was particularly happy to be there last night.

Ms Daphne was overjoyed to see us and we were pretty happy to escape the cold for a particularly warm house. The job was pretty simple: hoover her front room in readiness for a new carpet fitting on Friday. As ever with Missions, the execution was far from simple; it necessitated removing and replacing all of Ms Daphne's furniture, including sofa, TV unit, computer table, multiple side tables and even a bird cage with occupant in situ!

Not only this but we filled two rubbish sacks and one jumble bag with several months' worth of Ms Daphne's great-grandchildren's toys/rubbish/dinners! An added treat for Gosia and I was finding and clearing several samples of 'what the cat left behind', most literally. This is why I always bring hand disinfectant to Missions!

To our credit, all three of us efficiently smashed out the task in less than one hour; the 30-year old carpet did actually look a different colour after we'd removed the debris and aggressively Henry Hoovered every inch. Ms Daphne was genuinely overjoyed and reckoned that without our help. the new carpet could not have been fitted.

After dumping the waste, the final job was the obligatory but extra-special 'group selfie'; with Gosia mocking up a set of wings on Mridula's back, in preparation for the new Centurion T-shirt.
