And a big pile of hats as far as we could see,
We sorted beanies to caps,
And piled top hats in stacks,
Then a KitKat break—before storing rails neatly!

The guns were out tonight, as me and Ian pulled our sleeves up and rolled those rails into their overnight cupboards.

Simon told us the day team always celebrate when they hear GoodGym are coming to help, because it’s one task they get a break from for the day — a lovely reminder that a deed can go a long way. 💪

A strong team of 4 turned up tonight to bring back this lovely session at Croydon Refugee Day Centre 💪

It was a pleasure meeting Julia, Lorna and Ian at my first session as TaskForce — and a special welcome to our newbie, Julia ❤️

Simon, the task owner, is a dream! He took the time to give us a proper introduction and set us up to make this a regular session. Our tidying efforts were even rewarded with KitKats — always appreciated 🍫

The first task for today was to label and hang lots of children's summer clothes. The team worked quickly and the box was soon empty. The refugee children will have some lighter clothing to wear in this hot weather.

The final task was to wheel the racks of clothes into the store cupboard. This was also quickly completed.

Well done team!

Brenda, Ros and Ingrid met Refugee Day Centre volunteer Simon for another evening sorting the donations. We tidied up the clothing on the rails, removing empty hangers and ensuring everything was facing the same way.

We finished by moving the rails into the storage room. As there were only three of us, this was quite a task, and we all felt we had a good workout, especially for our arms!

We said our goodbyes and wished Simon a Happy Easter, as the next session will be on Tuesday 22nd April. Thank you to Brenda for tonight's pun and photos.

Another evening session helping out at Croydon Refugee Day Centre. Ingrid welcomed Manish to his first task with Croydon GoodGym and they were both greeted by Simon from the Centre.

The first job was to pair up and label shoes, placing them in the correct slots in the rack. This was followed by moving the hanging rails from the main hall to the storage room. Manish did a fantastic job of arranging the rails in the small room and we had lots of space left for boxes which also needed storing until the next day centre session.

Looking forward to visiting the centre again on the 1st April.
