Your Local Pantry Volunteering Opportunities

Your Local Pantry is a network of community food stores, creating a sustainable and long-term solution to food poverty and helping the UK save money on their food bills. Your Local Pantry is different from a foodbank because:

*It’s member run: many of our volunteers who run the pantries are member too *It’s open to all: membership is open to anyone local with no requirement to be referred by a professional *It’s all about choice: you can choose what you want *The food is good quality: we stock fruit and veg, frozen and chilled products as well as tinned goods. It’s all donated from Fareshare so we are helping tackle food waste too.

The benefits of the Your Local Pantry model are clearly evident as it saves customers money on grocery bills, saves food from landfill, enhances nutrition and food variety, knits neighbourhoods together and tackles social isolation and it develops employability.

We have a network of around 30 volunteers each week who help us with delivery collections from supermarkets, help us with putting stock away and help us meet and greet customers in the shops. Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to operate the 5 pantries in Stockport and that’s why we need you!
