Sian Dobson Hughes
Area Activator for Stockport. A born and bred Manc and a lover of all things running. From marathons to trails, triathlons to tracks.
October is Stockport's Equality Month, where organisations across the region deliver a while host of free programmes and activities aimed at spreading awareness of issues surrounding equality.
Sector 3 had a batch of leaflets and posters that needed delivering to businesses across the town to promote all of the wonderful activities that were going on.
That's where GoodGym 'stepped' in!
We started our hefty 10km run at Life Leisure Avondale in a typically Manc climate. Rainy and cold (but with warmth in our hearts!)
We navigated a circular route hitting off all the stops along the way and spreading the word and the leaflets for Equality Month.
Kirsty managed to keep her hair dry, Pete got a winning Chinese And we delivered all the leaflets.
Not too shabby for a rainy Tuesday run!
We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every week to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations and projects across the Stockport region.
October is Stockport Equality Month and we want as many people in Stockport to know all about Equality Month and the fantastic events on offer.
We have flyers and posters that need to be delivered to local community spaces so they can put up in their venue.
GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.
Our task will be to run a circular route, starting Life Leisure Avondale at 6pm, and delivering as many of the flyers and posters to the designated drop point as possible.
With the colder weather is settling in, the luxury of an indoor task is always a bonus! And this Tuesday's group run task put the fun in the run.
A regular parents and toddler group 'Prampushers' hosts a weekly group for local parents and their children to get together in a social, safe and fun environment. It's a tough task to keep toddlers entertained but the array of incredible toys at The Guywood Centre looked like a child's dream come true. From Little Tykes cars to a ball pool, dressing up wardrobes to dolls houses, Prampushers has it all.
The only thing that Prampushers was lacking was a pair (or two) of hands to help them to set up the heavy and endless toys. That's where GoodGym came in.
We were a little ahead of time with our run so took an extended run around Romiley and circled back to the Guywood Centre to begin our task.
Within 40 minutes, a bare hall has become a haven of adventure.
