Touchstone Loves Food
Our support will include delivering fresh food as well as supporting people around mental health and inclusion (including digital inclusion). · Our priority will be to support BAME communities as we are aware they face higher inequalities, which has been magnified by Covid-19. We will also focus on supporting people who are isolated and live with a mental health condition.

Touchstone Loves Food provides vital supplies of fresh food, and mental health support to vulnerable people who are shielding, isolated and unwell. It helps at least 800 people through the crisis and supports strategic BAME inclusion beyond. This project is aimed at BAME people living with mental health conditions in some of the most deprived areas of Leeds (most within the 10% most deprived areas of the UK). Many of these people will also be members of low-income families and/or aged over 55. They all come from communities disproportionately affected by Covid-19.

What Touchstone needs is volunteer packers to help during the week. Packing sessions are held each weekday between 10-3pm. However, if you can do part of this, that would be helpful. We have been asked to provide 1 volunteer each day of the week. On arrival you should go to the entrance of the centre and ask for a member of staff. Please wear a face covering and maintain social distancing whilst helping.

Volunteer packers should have a basic DBS check. If you do not have this, please let Gemma know and we can see if we can get that sorted out for you.

Touchstone may also need help with delivering the food parcels - please get in touch with Gemma to find out more. Any additional volunteering support you provide can be self logged as a good deed.
