Last week the famous footballer Ross Barkley was outed on Twitter for claiming a 16 minute 5km run when his "elapsed time" on Strava was over an hour due to having several rests and pausing his watch. It seems all the rage to be claiming PBs when you've had a sneaky rest along the way and stopped your watch. In fact there's a Twitter account dedicated to uncovering such rascals but it's far too rude for me to include on here. Try starting a search with @stravawa and you should find it.
So, using an interval method, how quick can you manage a "Ross Barkley 5km" according to your watch?
You could do a reverse hill session, sprinting down the hill with the watch on then walking back up to recover with the watch paused.
Or some sprint drills pausing the watch for a breather.
PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS AN INTERVAL TRAINING SESSION - DON'T RISK INJURY IN PURSUIT OF VICTORY
Screenshots of your "time" and details of how you did it and if you beat your legitimate 5k PB let us know how much you managed it by to huw@goodgym.org and I'll compile a report of our fantastic new unbeatable PBs!
You have until the end of April. Stay safe.
