The King's Soup SET UP
This is a popular community event, however due to poor weather conditions and the pandemic, it hasn't taken place fully since 2017! We would really love to bring some joy and fun to the community and bring everyone together again.

Date and time
11:00 - 12:00After a hiatus, the popular community event, Surbiton Ski Sunday & The King's Soup is back! Part of 'Seething Sunday' this event is our attempt at democratizing skiing. Members of the community strap blocks of ice to their feet and ski down St Mark's Hill, caught by community members at the end. We also have the 'Seething Luge', a bathtub to ride down the hill - all to beat the world record of Suburban skiing. After this, we head over to Claremont Gardens, in Surbiton, for The King's Soup. The community comes together to make leek and potato soup to share, listen to live music and hear the story of The King's Soup, told by the community. The event is free but is a fundraiser for the Mayor’s charity so all donations are welcome.
Tasks involved
We need help setting up a stage, prepping the soup and decorating the space with bunting. There is some manual handling and unloading of a van involved for those who are willing. The event takes place outside so please wrap up warm, wear sensible shoes and bring gloves. A number of our team are working the event so present yourself to a person in high vis when you arrive or call the number provided.
Trudie is the task owner and her number is 07904011246.
