Friends of Whirlowbrook park have been working really hard to bring back to life an orchard with some trees that are around 70 years old, as well as newly planted fruit trees.

After removing the leylandii hedge, they’re creating a more wildlife friendly hedge, with hazels and other hedge trees to go around the orchard and need plenty of hands to dig those in.

There are over 300 tree “whips” to plant so the more hands the merrier to help with this “tree-mendous” task! We’ll be joining the friends of whirlow brook park volunteers, as well as local scouts.

So get your gloves on and come digging!

We will be meeting in the orchard for 10am; the orchard is on the left a bit before the Shelter cafe.
