Forget ‘The Red Devil’s ’ we had our very own 22 spooktacular ‘Reds’ flying through the city centre tonight for a 3k run to Manvers Baptist Church and Open house centre to do a spot of painting. This place gives so much so it’s nice to give a little back.

Wow!! Check out our new meeting reception at the leisure centre and it’s Goodgym colour themed.

A few new faces tonight and what a pleasure to have them along

Welcome to Cllr Bob Goodman
Now that’s a perfect surname for a Goodgym runner.

Welcome to Katie and keiran also along for a taste of Goodgym run.

A few announcements during warm up and headcount. This months heroes are Mary 8 Good deeds Dan 123k Steph topped the cheers, so start supporting your fellow runners and get cheering. Great to have Alison back after being injured, she still managed a marathon at the weekend. Also nice to see Becca back after breaking her wrist.

A short winding run around the city centre to kick off the evenings activities with a stop off for 50 squats set by Cllr Bob, now that’s just mean.. Ha!! but highly delighted Steph and became apparent a lot of the group can’t count. Another stop off at the Abbey Church yard with some furniture fitness to get the arms nice and ready for painting.

Our host Peter is the proud grandfather of Anya Shrubsole English international cricketer and World Cup winner, in fact he has good reason to be proud of all of his grandchildren. He certainly gets us working hard when we visit and shares wise words for doing a great job, let’s face it

If a jobs worth doing it’s worth doing well

I think Pete was slightly overwhelmed with the number of us tonight but he managed to find enough to keep us busy.

Three teams

TEAM 1- Painting a freshly plastered wall and door frame in the big hall.

TEAM 2- Giving the disabled toilet a fresh coat of paint.

TEAM 3- Doing a spot of cleaning in the kitchen.

Bob was a dab hand with a roller and proved to be worth his weight in gold with his screwdriver skills on the baby changing unit. I bet that’s the first time he’s been shut in a toilet with 7 ladies painting, but I guess there’s a first time for everything.

We worked on the task for 45 minutes before heading off into the dark night for a short run back to base for some stretches and chat about tonight’s pun.

The Goodgym 2018 Calendar will be ready this week £9.95 or £10 if you hate 5ps, all profits will be split between Goodgym and Forever friends appeal for the new cancer centre at the RUH in memory of Steph’s coach Joan.
