Friends of Loughborough ParkIt’s the monthly litter pick with refreshments and Anthea’s delicious cake served after.
And in good news FoLP have been offered funding of £8k+ by the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) to start the Living Hedge project! The team will be there to guide you on what needs doing but expect some ground clearance for sure.
Sunday 27th August we are having a first session of cutting back the invasive snowberry in Loughborough Park. This involves hacking down the foliage and then tackling the root systems to see how much we can get out. We are starting with just a small section about 3m by 2m but it promises to be quite hard work.
We are going to start at 3pm and finish by 4.30pm followed by a trip down the road to Clarkshaw’s Brewery, a tiny micro brewery at Loughborough Junction. Meet at the Community Garden in the north east corner of the park to collect gloves, mattocks, loppers, forks and spades.
Everyone is welcome. Activities are family-friendly and all equipment is provided. Join our regular team of Anthea, Julie, Scarlet, David and Rebecca.
The team from Friends of LP will be there all day long 10am - 6pm so pop along for as much or little as you can whenever you can and sessions are accompanied by the best tea and cakes in South London. Meet in the Community Garden
