Spread some festive cheer and collect donations for local charities

Date and time
17:45 - 20:15

Who this task will support
Rotary Club of Merton
For 90 years the club has served the communities of Morden, Lower Morden, and Raynes Park.

The Morden Rotary Club organises a Santa sleigh tour in Merton each year in partnership with a different local organisation/charity each night during the 2 weeks. The sleigh plays festive music while volunteers knock on doors and collect donations.

We will be helping with supporting the session collecting for GoodGym Merton and Merton's Community Fridge (although donations will be pooled and split between all charities).

The start location/meeting point will be at 5.45pm in Fairway with the junction of Church Walk for briefing/distribution of hi-vis. If you would like to join us along the route we would ask that you attend (we will share the route/location, which will be along Linkway/Westway/Crossway/Grand Drive) between 6.45/7pm until the end (approx 8.15pm finish) so we can arrange for one of our Taskforce team members to meet/brief you. Please note there are some strict healthy and safety guidelines that we need to follow which will be shared via email ahead of the session.

We will set up a dedicated Whatsapp group to help with logistics on the night so if you are meeting mid-way you will need to bring your mobile phone and agree to being added to the Whatsapp group (after signing up please email merton@goodgym.org to provide your number; if you are not on the GoodGym Merton general Whatsapp group already).

A few advance instructions:

  • Bring a Santa hat along if you have one (festive items are encouraged).

  • Be sure to wear clothing suitable for the conditions (cold, dark, possibly rainy), and wear comfortable shoes as we will be walking for about 2 hours.

  • A torch/headtorch is also recommended.

  • Please be careful crossing roads, don’t enter properties or get isolated from the main group.

  • Please look out for each other and try to keep together.

  • Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
