Thames Hospice provide expert care for people living with life-limiting illnesses in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire. A vital part of their work is also supporting patients' families and carers, and they run 22 shops across the region to raise funds.

Since re-opening, their Windsor shops have been inundated with donations and they are low on volunteers, so there are a number of opportunities for GoodGym to help out over the next few weeks. Key details:

  • The task involves sorting, steaming, cubing, tagging and hanging donations.
  • Numbers are limited for this task due to the need for social distancing, so please sign up at least 24 hours in advance. Please note that if you are the only person signed up the task will be cancelled as we need at least 2 GoodGym volunteers to run a community mission.
  • Your Area Activator Amy Lovell may not be at the task, but the shop manager Trudie, or one of her team, will make you welcome and help you get stuck in.
  • You will be given a short training session before you get started to ensure you are working safely.
  • If you want to cycle to the task there is limited safe parking for bicycles. You may wish to call the shop in advance to check whether they have space in their stock room for your bike. The number is 01753 850992.
  • If you are keen to help the shop but don't see a listing at a time that you can make, please contact Amy Lovell on amylovell@goodgym.org and we can tweak times or arrange another listing that suits you. Please note however that all listings will be during the daytime while the shop is open.

How are you getting there?

Sorry we have had to cancel. Not enough runners are signed up and no one is available to lead. There will be plenty more opportunities to help at the Thames Hospice shop, so we hope to see you there or on another community mission soon.
