Help at a charity dawn swim event

This is a very unusual opportunity! On Sunday May 30th there will be a unique water-based fundraiser and we have been asked to help.

The event is to raise funds for Brent Knoll & Watergate Co-operative Trust, two SEND schools in our area. People will be invited to swim various distances in the lake at Beckenham Place Park, raising sponsorship money for the schools. The event is taking place at day-break, so volunteers will be required to arrive at the park very early!

There are a number of roles, including:

• stewarding swimmers (lifeguards will be in place, so this is just an ushering role)
• helping caterers to bring breakfast to the swimmers
• making up goody bags (and handing these, and certificates, to swimmers)
• directing people from the car park to the lake
• litter-picking/tidying up after the event

Things to consider: this is a very early start, so you need to be able to make your own way to the lake in Beckenham in the early hours of the morning (maybe we could buddy people up to cycle/walk/run together from different directions). It's likely to be cold at that time, so you will need to dress accordingly, as you will be standing around. The event will be COVID-safe, so you will need to bring a mask, hand gel and to adhere to the rules in place at this time.
