Last night amid the start of a heat wave, Richmond started doing GOOD in our community. It was such an honour to lead the team to our first task and into some energy sapping exercises in the glorious sunshine. (Which I should add the team handled very admirably)

Approx 40 runners left WHOLEFOODS MARKET in Richmond centre and trod the scenic pathway to tackle the amazon type terrain. Phased by nothing in their path they cut through nettles, endured the heat and made a huge impact in the upkeep and beauty of the Thames tow path. In two shifts they battled with the Himalayan Balsam and laid it to rest before choosing how they wished to test their fitness against one of three run distance options on the way home. All were heroes and had a refreshing welcome back to our Wholefoods start location with some ice cold smoothies courtesy of the staff there.... (think I had too many). A few were said to be smuggling off for some further refreshment in the sunset via a pub so hopefully the head is good this morning. Apparently a pub stop on the way home helps with the aching and stinging legs. Those who took the Mayors (Deputy) challenge and held a nettle then hoped this method worked for you....let us know.

Absolute delight to meet you all Richmond and see our town in all its glory. Sun setting as I cycled home and full moon the other side putting in an appearance it was a champagne sky ending to a great first task guys - Thank you all.

MORE PICS TO COME !!
