GoodGym Manchester #LetsLiftTheCurfew: Lit-up run and social

Promoting an active lifestyle

Location
St Peter's Square
Manchester
M1 5AN
Date and time
18:15 - 20:00
Monday, 26th of October 2026

To mark 2 years since the first GoodGym Manchester group task Northmoor Paint Job, it is probably time to organise a group social or get together.

There will be a light jog around the city centre before going for drinks and food. Meet in St Peter's Square for 18:15 for the run outside the central library (What3words: ///funds.rescue.paths)

The social location will be at Sandbar (120 Grosvenor St, Manchester M1 7HL or What3Words: ///stir.comic.mime) from ~7pm-ish onwards. The pub location can be discussed if there are other preferences.

Hope to see many of you there!

It is also the first run after the clocks move back, meaning darker evenings. Please bring hi-visibility clothing and/or lights to stay visible. More information on the Let's Lift the Curfew campaign is below:

Support This Girl Can and Let's Lift the Curfew

Sport England's This Girl Can campaign seeks to change how women think and feel about sport & physical activity and encourage women to be active in ways that work for them, regardless of age, background or ability.

Let’s Lift The Curfew launched in 2023 to showcase women’s stories and concerns around getting active outdoors in the darker months when the clocks go back, as well as calling on wider society to acknowledge their role in making getting active outdoors safer for women.

How to support the campaign

Good Gym has previously produced training for male allies to help contribute towards women’s safety at night that would be good to circulate with any male members.

Clothing considerations: Front and rear runners should ideally wear high-visibility, brightly coloured clothing. Where possible encourage members to use reflective clothing and have some members use headlamps or handheld lights for visibility.

Sharing the event: Use #LetsLiftTheCurfew in all social media related to your event. We'd love to see running leaders and members livestream and post videos and pictures from your LLTC run using the hashtag to build momentum across social media.

Walkable

You will be able to join a group walking to the task if you'd prefer not to run.

Options are available to run between 4km and 8km in total

Remember that we run/walk to and from the task, so you'll only be running/walking for half this distance in one go.

This is a standard GoodGym group run. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact us.
