Simon had a frog in his throat this week so needed to rest up, Aidan here taking over for the week. Feel free to enjoy/groan at the frog related puns throughout the report.

Why are frogs such liars? Because they are amFIBians

26 GoodGymers ignored the drizzle this Monday and joined for a run and bit of gardening. Special shout out to our 8 first-timers; Grainne, Tom, Kris, Victoria, Emilie, Sophie, Gabriela and Leonardo. Why not go give them a cheer!

What is a frog's favourite kind of music? Hip-Hop!

This week we were back to see FRiends of Grenville Gardens (FROGG), helping to spruce up the gardens ready for spring and they had several tasks for us to get are hands dirty with. Steve arrived first with the faster group and got stuck in straight away tackling the pond. Grenville Gardens needed us to clear the pond of the rubble and mud so it can be transformed into beautiful watery centre piece. Little did they know they were interrupting the home of a froggy friend of FROGG! Luckily we had no squeamish GoodGymers and everyone enjoyed watching the frog hop around the empty pond.

As the rest of the group arrived there were plenty of other tasks to be tackled. We continued our battle with the wall of ivy, several GoodGymers donned secateurs and with the help of some torchbearers went to battle with the weeds!

We even had time for a group to put the final touches to a flower bed with a log roll bordering. With a bit of patience and a lot of hammering it was looking perfect!

How do frogs make beer? Like everybody else. They start with some hops...

With time to spare on the run back Steve had the great idea of a quick visit to Emirates. Not much time but enough for couple of group photos and a two thirds fartlek around the stadium. A short jog back toward Highbury Pool and of course finishing off with a sprint race up our favourite hill, Ronalds Road.

I tell too many puns... or so I've been TOAD.

Back at base and it was stretching time. Perfect time also for the two most important parts of GoodGym Islington.

  • Firstly the debate, this week we discussed British Summer Time. Should the clocks go back and forward, should it be scrapped altogether... Turns out a bit of mixed support, some love it as it is, some would love it to be BST all the time and scrap GMT.

  • Secondly (and in my eyes more importantly) we continued the month of Homemade-March with Bianca making homemade carrot cake. It was amazing, she deserves cheers just for that :)

Some of these puns are just un-FROG-gettable

Next week we are at St Luke's. Sign up. Run. Have a biscuit. :)

Aidan

Not wanting to be overly pedantic hops are added at the end of the brewing process, not at the start.
