Fighting bamboo at Old Sneed Park Nature Reserve
Bamboo is invasive and rampant! Containing its spread will ensure it doesn't out-compete native plants on this beautiful nature reserve.

Friends of Old Sneed Park Nature ReserveCutting down to the ground and / or digging out the bamboo shoots that are spreading from the main clusters of bamboo (which we will leave untouched).
Meet between numbers 5 and 5a Glenavon Park, in Sneed Park, Bristol BS9 1RS by 16.00 sharp, as we will all walk together the 5 minutes to the bamboo location from there.
Please wear some old protective clothing (eg trainers, long trousers, long sleeved top) and bring gardening gloves, secateurs and loppers if you have them. Gloves and tools will also be available on site. Best bring some drinking water and maybe a hat and some sunscreen in case it's a scorcher!
This event would nicely combine with an afternoon or early evening stroll around the nature reserve and in the vicinity of Sneed Park. Perhaps followed by a long cool beverage afterwards! It's a lovely location and a well-loved nature reserve with a diverse landscape including a pond with water birds.
For anyone arriving later after the main group have left the meeting point, head down the track (between numbers 5 and 5a Glenavon Park) into the nature reserve and continue to the bottom meadow. We'll be working in the wood to the right of the meadow (as you're facing the rail track and the river) at what3words: park.dive.like .
