The Friends of Windmill Gardens (FoWG) were formed in 2003 with three aims: * to get the Grade II listed Brixton Windmill restored and opened for public visits – in 2002 it had been put on English Heritage's buildings at risk register; * to make Windmill Gardens park a more welcoming space for local people; * to have a new education centre at the windmill. Windmill Gardens gained a Green Flag Community Award in 2015 and we have just been judged again so our fingers are crossed that we will retain the award for the next two years.

Windmill Gardens is a heavily used park and keeping it looking good is an important part of the work of the Friends of Windmill Gardens charity. We have several public events for local people during July so we want the park to be looking its best!

Gardening workshop in Windmill Gardens park.

Tasks include planting, weeding, litter picking and generally tidying up all the flower beds as well as working in the vegetable garden which make our small park where the historic Brixton Windmill stands a welcoming space for all.

FoWG volunteer gardeners will lead the different tasks during this workshop. They will advise on correct use of tools.

Weather: Please make sure you dress appropriately for gardening work. If sunny bring a hat and wear sunscreen. We provide gardening gloves and drinking water.
