Parkwood Springs is an amazing natural 'wild' space close to the centre of the city of Sheffield. There is woodland and heath, open parkland, and a range of natural habitats where wild lupins bloom, kestrels hover, and deer have been seen again. There are spectacular views over the city centre, the suburbs and the distant moors of the Peak District.

Parkwood Springs Community Lantern Procession has developed over 10 years to be a fantastic free and accessible community event. It is organised by the Friends of Parkwood Springs, local artists and volunteers.

There are various tasks for the day, this task is for the set up:

Hi Celine. Yes, it’s quite a full day! To clarify, we’re making the Big Fish and other smaller lanterns at Abbeyfield House. We have a van booked to take the Big Fish/other lanterns to Parkwood Springs - I think we can manage that part ourselves.

Where they will really need help is with taking the Big Fish lantern from the car park at Parkwood Springs up to the viewpoint where we will assemble it. (It is in sections, some bulky but not heavy) This will need to be done in the early afternoon, ideally between 12 noon and 2pm.
