The Greenway OrchardThe Greenway Orchard is a volunteer led community garden on the Greenway near Newham University Hospital. They have requested our help to clear a very overgrown area of the Orchard which, once done, they will then cultivate and plant flower and other seeds in, and hopefully over time a new flower meadow will appear through the miracle of horticulture (and a fair bit of TLC).
Please come with head torches or searchlights as it will be dark in the Orchard, and bring long sleeves and long trousers (or similar protection that you don't mind getting a bit snagged...) to protect hands/arms/legs from the brambles/thorns that we will inevitably have to deal with on this task. A pair of sturdy gardening gloves would also be useful, although the team there will be able to lend us gloves, and provide cutting implements.
For those that want to run to the task (c2 miles/3.2km), we plan to meet at Freaks and Geeks pub at 25 West Ham Lane E15 4PH (where we can leave bags if necessary - more details on the sign up page as to meeting time etc.), and then run back there after the task to have a celebratory St Patrick's Day pint of the black stuff, or whatever suits your fancy, to be sure...
How are you getting there?
