10:00 - 10:00Stockport Rotary Lamp Lighters are looking for a number of volunteers to identify public benches in the Stockport Borough where they could affix a Buddy Bench sign.
A Buddy Bench is a designated bench within a green space where people can sit and encourage communication and conversation with others. It's a great initiative to reduce the effects of loneliness and encourage community cohesion.
On your regular run, walk or cycle, can you find a bench that would suit this purpose?
There are 10 signs to place – ideally in a variety of locations within the borough. Memorial benches or private benches cannot be used.
Community Mission Step By Step 1) Sign up to the Community Mission 2) Run, Walk or Cycle to your local area of green space. 3) Find a bench without a memorial or private plaque. 4) Take a photo of the bench 5) Email the photo and details of the location to sian@goodgym.org.
